sfref link resolution

If I understand correctly, when content is saved or edited the LinkParser.ResoveLinks is called and the proper href value is set. I currently have image links set to "~/images/photo_name.jpg" as the root folder will change once the project is moved off the development server. Currently when I save content, a src value is of "/store/images/photo_name.jpg" is inserted as it should. My question is does the LinkParser continually update the src values? In other words, when the site moves from the development server and the "store" folder is no longer part of the filepath, will it automatically update the src value to "/images/" instead of "/store/images/"?
