Looks like this is by design but I believe we will need to override this. Could anyone instruct me as to how I could go about doing this.

Hi Benjamin,

You can fin-tune the regular expressions for special characters in Pages since our 4.1 official release. Please take a look at this forum thread which contains a discussion on the topic. I hope this information helps, if you have any additional questions, please do not hesitate to let us know.
