Thumbnails of flash videos - Sitefinity - General Discussions

Hello,

We are using the built-in Videos module of sitefinity in our website to display flash videos, we changed the allowed extensions from the administration settings (Administration -> Settings -> Advanced -> Libraries -> Videos) to be ".flv" and ".mp4" only.

By uploading a video, we are not able to choose a thumbnail for the video by choosing one of the video frames, and we got "Failed to open media!" error. (please refer to the attached screenshot)

Any suggestions?

Hi Amrelsayed,

That's a tough one. The built in Videos module is based on the Silverlight Media player, so even though changing the allowed extensions will allow you to store the flash videos in your Videos library, the uploaded videos are not among the supported formats for Silverlight Media player.
