Summary field in News Module
Does the Summary field in the news module act as the description shown in search engine results?
If not, then
-what is the summary field used for?
-when finding a sitefinity news module article in a search engine, where is the description pulled from (something defined in the widget?) How would we assign this then?
Any thoughts or help would be awesome!

Hi Lou,
The description that is displayed in the search results are combination between Title and the content of the item that is indexed. Can you provide more information what you want to accomplish?

Hi Teodor! Thanks for the reply.
We are building out a new site and want to ensure when a news item is searched for, we know what will be displayed in the browser. So the answer is: Title and content of the item. Makes sense.
So is the "summary" used for internal displays within our website?
For example, we can give a brief sentence or two about what the article is about?

Hi Lou,
If you drop a News widget on a page that will list all your news items and you click the title of one news item with a Summary, you would see that the default detail template renders the description above the content in italic. You can change this of course by editing the template.
Does this answer your question?
