Form Module Field Sorting

What dictates what order the form fields are displayed in on the results listing in the Sitefinity Administration and the Excel Export?  The field columns don't seem to be following the order they are arranged in the form builder.  Is there a way to change the way the columns are arranged?  We're currently working with Sitefinity 4.2.1650.0.

Hi Seattle Web Group,

There is no built-in functionality for changing this order when exporting the responses to Excel right now. The fields are displayed the way they are taken from the database.  When you export them to excel, however, you can use excel functions to sort the columns anyway you like. In Sitefinity administration, the fields in the responses should appear the same way they appear on the actual form.

If you have any further questions, feel free to get back to me.

All the best,

Would it be possible to adjust the clustered index of the table the fields are coming from to change their order?  It looks like most of the tables are clustered by their randomly generated GUID at this point which would make the order of the fields in the export come out random.  It would be helpful to have the fields in the export sorted so that we don't have to manually re-order the fields every time an export is done.  This can be time consuming when there are a lot of questions to deal with.

Hello Seattle Web Group,

I realize this may be disappointing ,but you shouldn't change this index, as it may cause great problems with OpenAccess and your project may stop working.
However, we know this is an important feature, so it is now logged in our system and we will work on implementing it for our future releases. Here's the PITS issue that you can follow:

It's also been noted that the field headers are showing up as the "Advanced: Name for developers" rather than the labels assigned to the questions.  The developers name assigned to questions tend to be cryptic and not very useful in determining what the data in the column actually represents without going into the Form and making note of what the developer name is for each of the fields.  Is there a way change this so that the export headers will show the question labels instead as they are in the response listing?

Hello,

I have just tested this behavior on 4.2 1733 and the fields' headers have the names of their respective labels. So, what I can suggest now is an upgrade to 4.2 SP1. Would that be possible for you?

Yes, we will be upgrading to the latest version soon.  There have been several smaller customizations that have been pushing back the time scheduled for installing the latest upgrade.

Hello,

I'm glad to hear that. Hope you will like our latest release. If you have any problems during or after the upgrade, please do not hesitate to contact us.
