WYSIWYG Editor
Hi Guys
One of our content editors have asked us about the following:
• In SF 3.7, it was possible to insert an image from the file system. I have noticed that if I tweak the RadEditor, I can almost achieve this. Of course, he can just type in the path. But that takes a bit longer (he's a content editor, so does not like typing in paths and such). If you click the "Insert Image" button from the editor, and go to "All Properties", then click on the "ImageSrc_CallerButton", it opens the dialog box, but does not point anywhere (see attached). Can this be rectified?
• Also, once you have added an image from the file system (not the blob storage of SF), and you right-click on it, and select properties, it just shows the insert image dialog (including when you click the image manager link). We cannot change the properties of an inserted image. Any suggestions on this matter?
Thanks
Charles D.
Hello Charles,
Correct me if I'm wrong, but you want to insert an image to a page with a content block. To do so, you simply need to use the Image manager. It allows you to choose images from a library or from your computer, and whatever option you choose you can right-click on the inserted image and change its properties. Please take a look at the video for further reference. Maybe you're talking about something different. If so, I would ask you to list the steps for reproducing what you're experiencing.

Hi Jen
Thanks for the reply.
I am inserting it in a content block. The thing is, we do not want to make use of the SF libraries (nothing personal, we just believe in old-fashined file system usage). What you are suggesting is using the SF blob storage. Now, also the "from computer" thing still means that it will need to be added to the blob and DB.
So, for our content editor, he has access to the FS and to add pages (content). The images sometimes change and that would mean an extra step when replacing the image. I willl try and create a video to show my steps. In the mean time, this is what I did:
• Create a page
• Drag on a Content Block
• Click 'edit'
• Click the 'Insert Image' Button (modified editor)
• To the right of the 'Imager src' box is a button to the Rad Image Manager, click
This results in the previously attached image.
Long story short, our content editor raised an interesting point: the functionality I have described was available in SF3.7. That is merely the reason we are so set in our ways (more him than the dev guys).
Kind Regards
Charles D.
Charles,
Hello Charles,
As Dan suggested, you can try and use the File system storage option. Then you can have your images stored directly to the disk space, not the database and you will be able to use it in your content blocks.

Hi Guys
So, the thing with that suggestion (I do appreciate the effort) is that by using the File System upload function it requires, as I stated earlier, an extra step when replacing images. That's because the image is stored in th FS, but the filename is a Guid, and the reference to what that file is in the DB. So, even if I (or our external designers) drop files in the FS, someone will have to go and add it to SF.

Hello Charles,
Correct me if I misunderstood you, but you'd like to have the ability to upload an image in a content block from the File system, and then, when this image i replaced by another one in the FS, changes to be applied in Sitefinity automatically (old image would be replaced by the new one). Can you please send us the video you mentioned about? It would help us understand the exact requirement.
