I would like to add a custom field in the admin grids for blog posts.

I have been able to add out of the box sitefinity fields to the grid, but have been unsuccessful in using custom fields. I have also founf that when I set the sortexpression in one of the out of the box fields I've added, the grid sorts on the custom field.

Hello,

To add a field to the blog list you have an option to add few types of fields for which the blog module have ready made definitions.
Go to Administration->Settings->Advanced->ContentView->Controls->BlogsBackend->Views->BlogBackendList->ViewModes->Grid->Columns and there will be listed two columns Title and Actions which are the columns that are there by default. When select Columns node there is Create button that allows to select what type of column will be created.

All the best,
