Search index for 1 list only

We are currently using sitefinity 4.4 and have a question on search index.  Our site has multiple lists be have a page that has a list control that shows 1 list.  We want to use a search control on the page that only returns results for that 1 list.  We tried creating a search index with the scope as list items but it seems like the search index is indexing all the lists on the site.
1. Is there a way to have the search index only index 1 list?
2. If not what would be the best solution to implement the search and results for only 1 list.

We are having a similar issue... we have created multiple lists for FAQs and are trying to create 1 index per list; somehow, the index isn't limiting itself to the list specified when it is created.
