Widget Template Permissions Question

I am in the process of locking down some permissions for a custom role that was added through the Sitefinity UI.  I cannot find where I would prevent this role from being able to edit and create widget templates.

Let me elaborate further on this.  I did find where I can disable the admin menu from showing "Design -> Widget Templates", but I am still able to click edit on say a news widget and then under the list settings I can still click either edit or create new for the the template.

Under "Permissions -> Widget templates" I have removed all references to this custom role and I have even gone as far as setting administrator only to all create/edit/delete options and recycled the application a few times.

Hi,

The permissions are only for the Widget Templates page and the templates there. Those permissions are separate from the permissions for the widgets on the page. I agree that it makes sense after you configure a role not to be able to create new templates, that needs to apply to the templates from the widget properties. This sounds like a possible, I will investigate it further but first I will research what the expected behavior should be in this case.

In the meantime to completely prevent that role from creating templates, you will need prevent it from dropping widgets on pages and editing widget properties.
