Any future plans on adding ability to use Sitefinity API in non-Sitefinity applications?

I would like to use Sitefinity Dynamic Modules to build line of business applications. The biggest obstacle is that I would need to access the data stored in the dynamic modules from other non-Sitefinity applications.

Currently the only way to do that is through WCF.  We once built an application (it was not built with Sitefinity) using WCF. After the application was in production for a while we ran into all kinds of configuration issues and are now gradually replacing the WCF.

Since WCF is not an option in our department we can not use dynamic modules for creating line of business applications. Do you have any future plans on adding the ability to use Sitefinity API in non-Sitefinity applications?

Hi David,

For the time being and up to our knowledge the standard approach of such functionality in web application is using services.

What is the approach and the vision you have in order to use the API outside Sitefinity? Could you please describe more detailed your concept and scenario you think about?
