Upgrading Sitefinity 7.3 to 8.0

Hello,

I'm a new Sitefinity user and am not familiar with the upgrade process for Sitefinity from version to version. I found this doc: http://docs.sitefinity.com/upgrade.  But it doesn't seem to address specific hurdles for upgrading this version.

Does Sitefinity offer a 1-click upgrade option like Wordpress? Is this in the works?

Hello Jesse,

Since version 8.0 the upgrade process allows you to upgrade your project by automatic update of the assemblies reference. Along with the recently introduced one-step upgrade and automatic update of the necessary changes in the web.config file the process is facilitated a lot.

However the upgrade process also depends on the project customization. In case of custom code you need to update it manually, if there is any API changes.

In addition, it is highly recommended to upgrade the project locally (not on the live server directly) and check if it works correctly before deploying it again.
