Is it possible to serve up images from an external source? For example, if we have images on Flickr, can we us the Image Galery widget to show those images? Are the images required to be stored in Sitefinity to utilize the Image Gallery or image widget?

Hello Jared,

I'm afraid this will not be possible using the out-of-the-box Image widgets found in Sitefinity, as by design they will be using the Image media content libraries in order to obtain what will be shown in these widgets.

It is possible that you can create a custom widget and use the Flickr API in order to obtain the desired functionality.
