Related Media Interface Widget

Hello, I've created a Dynamic Content Item with a Related Media field and I would like to create a custom Interface Widget for uploading and selecting files. 

I've taken a look at this blog post and was wondering how I could adapt it for use with a Related Media field to use as a base for my Interface Widget.
