Off Topic - Suse CUPS and Epson dot-matrix printer problem (

Hello,

Anyone out there use Epson dot-matrix printer (LQ series) on Suse Linux?

I desperately need help on this.

We are currently in process of moving from SCO Unix to Suse Linux enterprise 11 SP3.

Progress is Openedge 11.3 (V6 on SCO unix).

We use Epson LQ-590 serially connected via Digi box.

We don't have any problems in SCO unix but encounter with this problem in Suse linux.

We are using CUPS to add/configure printer in Suse linux.

We tried configure with many different printer drivers but no solution.

The problems are

1. Print very slow, it pauses 3,4 second in every other line.

2. Font quality is only in draft mode, very poor.

3. Epson control code the Progress program sends for bold, fond size, etc, (using put control) is ignored.

Anyone out there ahd same issues and know the solution for this?

Greatly appreciate you help.

John

Use the generic raw printer driver or use lp -o raw -d queue filename.

Paul,

lp -o raw -d queue filename fixed the problem!

Thank you so much!

Best regards,
John
