Help needed on word-index OpenEdge 10.1b

We have an application with a lookup screen for items.  One of the options is looking on item description

we got 2 options: BEGINS and MATCHES

in an earlier version of progress we also used CONTAINS, as it seems a lot faster then MATCHES

but since we use OpenEdge 10, we no longer get any result with the CONTAINS option?????

in the older version we used string + "*" and it worked nice.

now we tried with and without the asterix, type the word partly and complete

the search never gives any result?????

does any one now what changed in OpenEdge concerning word-index
