OpenEdge 11.6 Silent Install

Posted by mikenelsonasi on 02-Aug-2019 16:25

I'm trying to create a deployment of OpenEdge for my company. I understand 11.6 creates a response.ini file, which I have located and saved. What I'm not clear on is that the setup.exe does not seem to accept the command switches as noted in the documentation. In fact, the documentation alludes to a silent install utility and that's where I'm unclear. What am I missing?

Hello,

I am guessing that you are looking at the following documentation page:

- documentation.progress.com/.../index.html

You are correct in using setup.exe with the command line switches.

What does your command line look like? What is the result?

I believe that there may be a limitation on installing 3rd party components that require to click through the EULA.

When you do a regular installation of the products, did you need to click through the license for any 3rd party components?

I hope this helps.

Aha, that's different than the documentation I found and was following. I was able to get it to work with a 64-bit ODBC driver install. I can't seem to get it to work with a 32-bit shared network install (netsetup). Or rather, it doesn't seem to be writing a response.ini even if I tell it to record one in a separate location.
