On the upcoming V12!!!!!

I wonder...

When date comes, what would be the process to follow?

scenario 1)

0) install database and migrate v11.3 (for instance) database to v12.

1) recompile base code

2) Reinstall client networking on 15 stations...

3) copy *.r to repository where users get it

that would put me on a insurmountable work as there would be users waiting to operate while installing client networking..

scenario 2)

0) Reinstall client networking V12

1) use client networking v12, to access data v11.3 with 11.7 *.r

2) on sunday, migrate data v11.3 to v12 and install v12 dataserver

???

how much will it be backward compatible?

What's the recommended  procedure?

Thanks!!!

You can access the 11.3 DB from 12 via TCP. But you will need new r-code as r-code is not compatible between major releases.
