Windows 10 certification plans for OpenEdge

Posted by Frank Meulblok on 29-Jul-2015 04:47

Windows 10 release is today, and with this being a free upgrade for existing WIn7 / WIn8 users, people are probably more willing to upgrade than before.

That means we're expecting a lot of questions on which OpenEdge releases will be certified, when that happens and what happens in terms of support in the meantime.

The short answer is that OpenEdge will not be immediately certified, but we'll provide best-effort support on those releases that are planned to be certified.

The more detailed answer is found in this Knowledge Base article:

The KB doc mentioned in Frank's original post above, mentioned that OpenEdge 11.6  (certification planned before end of January 2016)

Can anyone tell me if that came to fruition?  If not, when do we expect to complete the OE 11.6 certification against Windows 10?

According to the KB (S000060968), 11.6 is certified on Windows 10, although I didn't see any PANS announcement about it.

Right, that is the article mentioned.  I would like to confirm for my developer contacts.

Marc, the article has been updated since it was first published.  It was updated on January 15, to say that 11.6 certification on Windows 10 is now complete.

I'm not sure I understand your last comment; are you looking for further confirmation?

Windows 10 certifications should be complete by mid-march.  We have finished work with 11.6 and are working on 10.2B, 11.3, 11.5 and 11.4.  We will be providing updated information soon on any issues that we have encountered.

Brian,

Thank you for providing an update. You mentioned that OE v 11.6 has been completed.  Do you know if there were any changes required for OE 11.6 to complete the certification?  Will customers running/testing with GA versions of OE v 11.6  be required to upgrade to a later  build of OE v 11.6?

Hi Marc
At this time I do not have the details. I do not anticipate requiring a service pack but I do know that we came across a couple of issues so that may change.

There may be some workarounds that might be needed.

Brian,

I am just wondering how the Windows 10 certifications are coming along?

Posted by Brian Bowman on 24-Mar-2016 15:16

The Windows 10 certifications are going well.  They will be done by the end of next week.  ASAP after that we will post the updated PAG.  There are already some knowledgebases available for Windows 10.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Were hoping to get our application verified on 10.2B as soon as possible. So be good to know.

Hi -

Our Windows 10 certification is complete.  We have tested and certified OpenEdge 11.6, 10.2B08, 11.3.3, 11.4 and 11.5.1 with Windows 10.

We will be publishing an updated Platform and Product Availability Guide (PAG) as soon as possible with this information.   We will also create additional knowledgebase entries with issues that we have identified and workarounds where possible and needed.

Please continue to post any questions and challenges you may encounter.

A single document with all identified issues and workarounds would be great.

Agreed. The easier it is to find the information the better. Thanks.
