Online backup of target db causes replication to go into Pre

Posted by rjmundy on 23-Jul-2009 18:04

Hello,

Has anyone run into an issue whereby replication on the target db goes into PreTransition mode following an online backup of the Target db?  We are running OE10.1C03 on Linux RedHat Enterprise Linux server release 5.2?

We have 4 dbs and this seems to only happen to the 2 smaller dbs - not all the time and only intermittently to one, or the other, or both.

Here is a sample of what we are seeing in the db log file - note how it says the backup successfully completed, finished normally and then terminated abnormally and then a TCP/IP failure and then it goes into PreTransition mode.

Has anyone see this before??? Or have any idea as to WHY this is happening?

Fixed in 10.2B:

Issue Number: OE00188527

Replication Agent wrongly states online backup terminated.

The Replication Agent wrongly states online backup has terminated abnormally when the backup has already reported it completed successfully.
