Hi Jorrit,

Rollbase_user_guide.pdf, Chapter 12: Installing and administering Private Cloud , has information pertaining to installing the Rollbase Private Cloud. This is bundled alongside the Rollbase Full Installer .exe.

(Direct online documentation link:  http://documentation.progress.com/output/Rollbase/index.html#page/rb/installing-and-administering-private-cloud.html# )

Can you clarify if the idea is to install only Rollbase and point it to an existing instance of OpenEdge database? Or, is the plan to make use of Rollbase installer to install Rollbase on one machine and the database on another?

Regards,

Karthikeyan

Hi Karthikeyan,

We planning to use the installer to install Rollbase on one machine and the OE database on another.

Hi Jorrit,

Thanks.

If you have obtained a Rollbase Private Cloud license already, you may perform the installation as follows:

  1. Identify the machines as Rollbase machine or OpenEdge machine based on the hostname listed in the license file. Rollbase should be installed on the machine as per the hostname listed in your license file. Make sure the port number is also as mentioned in the license file.
  2. Install Rollbase on this machine, choose "Other Database" on the machine
  3. Run the installer on the database machine and finish the installation. The purpose here is to only install the database. (Rollbase will still be installed but you may choose to not use it).

Then follow the documentation to configure the databases.xml file to point to the database.

If you do not have a license now, step1 is not relevant. License can then be obtained for the machine running Rollbase.

Hope this helps.

(I have not tried this approach, but this should work).

Karthikeyan

Hi Karthikeyan,

We do not have a license file yet because for now we dont know what the Hostname will be.

Installation done as follows:

i first install Webserver(rollbase) with the installer and choose "Other Database" .

then then install Server(OEDB) with installer.

modify databases.xml on the Webserver and set URL to DB server.

Its working!!

Thanks for the quick response and help!
