What is a "record in scope"?

In the page editor I have this option, but I cannot find much about it in my Rollbase user's guide. What does it do?

Suppose you have 2 related objects, A and B, and Use record in scope for New Objects is enabled in Object A lookup of Object B's New page. If you view Record1 of object A then create a new object B record, it will automatically set Record1 as the related object A upon creation.

"Record in scope" is last record of given object type being viewed or edited.
