Permissions on comments

Posted by wweultjes on 26-Jun-2014 04:03

Hello,

When an object is created an comment field is created for this object.

This is a special field which is actually a representation of a comments table.

Everybody can change the comments even if they didn't wrote them.

We like to edit this table to add some intelligence to the permissions of this object.

It seems it's a kind of hidden table so we can't find it. Is there a way to add access the comment object?

Hi Wilco,

There is currently no way to configure the comments table in Rollbase. Though, you can create a custom object to store all the comments and relate it to your objects.

Godfrey

Thanks Godfrey, this is a answer to my question but it is not very satisfying. We love the comments functionality concerning workflow and status actions and we don't like to rebuild this kind of functionality. It seems to me that it is more easy for Progress to give us(restricted) access to the comments object so we can enhance it's functionality. Do you think this is possible in the (near) future?

This is a good "idea". If you haven't tried submitting one yet, check this link for detailed information: knowledgebase.progress.com/.../P11255
