I have an object that has a start date field and a end date field. I would like these records to show up in the calendar as multiday events. Is there a way to do that.

Do you mean the values from the date fields should be used to create the multiday events?

What I'd like is the ability to create a database, for example a app that tracks employee vacations, that has a start date and end date field. You then would have the ability to display those events in the calendar. Similar to google calendar or iCal. Zoho creator does something like this as an additional view. I would be great if you guys could implement something like this.

I have filed an Enhancement Request, CR# PSC00110639. This report will enable a Calendar's event duration to last longer than twenty-four hours. In addition, the report also includes a request for the Calendar View to reflect such events.
I will be sure to reply with any developments as our Product Management team reviews this suggestion.
