Using After Update Trigger with Cases Does Not Run When New

Using a trigger on the Cases CRM object that's supposed to run "After Update" and on "Any Update". When adding comments to the case this trigger does not execute at all, and I believe this is in error. I've also tried to configure the trigger to run when the Comments field is updated, with no success there either.

this isn't an error, comments are on a separate object that's why your trigger isn't running. currently the comments object is non editable, alternatively you can create a custom comments object instead and from there create a trigger on that object to run related trigger on your case object. at this point this is the only workaround i can think of, i will confirm with Matt what other options you have.

Martin is correct. Adding a comment to a record is not technically considered a record update. Also the native "Comments" field on an object is considered to be a related record rather than a field -- we know this is a bit confusing.
