Can recent items on the main page be filtered to only list records from specific objects? What happens it it shows a lot of sub records and gets cluttered with records they really dont want to directly access butt hey do access the parent or main object. If it filtered it would be much more useful.
This may get a little complicated. However you can completely hide "Recent Items" using "Account Settings" > Page Components
