The Position:

The Enterprise Developer reports to the Enterprise Development Manager and is responsible for most aspects of Enterprise software development including tools & processes.

The candidate will contribute to a clear vision with the aim of ensuring that development service, quality, efficiency and revenue targets are achieved and maintained.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Complete software development activities to ensure compliance with service delivery contractual obligations and commitments
  • Provide technical advice regarding product(s) the team develops based on a knowledge of the product, customers and any existing support issues
  • Adherence to industry best practice and/or corporate programming / testing standards and software production
  • Work with the Development Team, Customer Services and Professional Services for project and customer support based activities
  • Execute Continuous Improvement and/or Lessons Learned in all areas of Development to improve quality and efficiency
  • Liaison with Mid-market staff to share best practices and where possible ensure synergy between the departments
  • Ensure the corporate vision is understood, supported and effectively implemented
  • Ensure information is shared within the team
  • Comply with Administrative responsibilities, e.g. ReQlogic (timesheets), Expenses etc.
  • Participate in the staff performance process via a Scorecard and Personal Development Plan
  • Coach and/or mentor junior / trainee development staff
  • Demonstrate a level of technical competence that all software developers within the company should aspire to meet

 

Education / Experience Requirements:

  • Degree or BTEC Diploma qualification
  • The candidate will have at least 3 years’ experience in a software development role in a software business building commercial software applications
  • Understanding of the entire SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle)
  • Understanding of the Agile development process
  • Previous experience using Progress OpenEdge
  • Good technical knowledge spanning:
    • Database technologies (e.g. MS SQL, Oracle, MySQL)
    • Web standards and protocols including JavaScript, HTML(5), CSS, HTTP, SOAP/JSON and web services
    • Development tools, e.g. JIRA, Stash, Bamboo

  • Ability to contribute to large projects with changing priorities
  • Knowledge of computer science fundamentals and their application in practice
