Hi
I'm interested to hear form anyone who isn't using an OpenEdge Database with their ABL based application. I'm even more interested if your data source isn't a db at all, but some form of un-managed data source, such as an XML file, csv file, barcode feed, whatever.
Thanks
Mike
We have analyzed the effort it would take to run our application against oracle & MsSqlServer by prototyping. It proved to be very expensive, since we're relying heavily on 4gl triggers, word indexes and other 4gl features (think about the differences in transaction behavior, validation issues, etc).
We're also using the SQL92-engine to manipulate the OpenEdge database, but that's rather cumbersome in 10.0A & B. Do you really want to know more

I'd love to, honestly, but for my little research that is probably enough info for now
So anyone else not using an OE database, and as I say ideally not a db at all as a data source?
