log file sniffer

Progress: OpenEdge 11.5.1

MS-Windows server 2012 64-bit

What solution do you use or recommend to know there is an error in the log file? With a Progress AppServer some messages get sent to the Windows Event viewer. From there the message can be picked up on with an alert triggered in windows task manager. Yet not all messages are included in the event viewer.

I do not want to parse through the log file. I want to process the new data.

What I think I want is a procedure that runs as a Windows service that can be configured to monitor selected log files. Continuing from there an option to run a task based on new content to a log. In addition to the AppServer log file I expect I would find use for other log files for the DB, webspeed, tomcat, and etc.

Does this make you think of any off the shelf solution? I feel like there is an exiting solution that I am overlooking.

A lot of people use Zabbix for this.
