I am in a software department that is looking to convert a 9.1b client server application for use on the World Wide Web. We are currently in the initial stages of deploying a test application and can find very little information on the practical aspects involved, aside from that provided in the PROGRESS handbooks.
I would be grateful to hear from anyone who has already performed a similar process and would be able to elaborate on the practical aspects involved, and/or would be willing to provide any information on pitfall(s) that its possible to fall prey to, and ways of avoiding or dealing with them.
Hi Ian,
I am in the process of migrating a prototype application to N-Tier for use with the 9.1B WebClient.
One of the main reasons for doing this is
to produce a Step by Step Guide to help
Progress Users like yourself. As of today,
I have completed migrating the application
to N-Tier and at some point this week, I
intend to start testing with the WebClient.
If I can be of any assistance for your
project please let me know. You can contact
me by email at chriss@oocean.com . If I am too
late replying to your post on this forum, then
I would be interested in any case study
examples for the Step by Step Guide that I am
in the process of drafting.
If anybody else reads this post on this forum
and would like to contriubute to creating a
Step by Step Guide to N-Tier Client/Server and
Web Client Migration Projects by
providing case study examples, please let me know.
Happy New Year to all Migration Forum readers
and contributors and a special 'Hi' to Salvador
who I had the opportunity of meeting in
Barcelona.
Kind Regards,
