Sizing Assistance Needed

Posted by LegacyUser on 07-Jun-2002 11:13

I am a Sun Systems Engineer working with a customer to

consolidate a number of small Progress 8.X systems

running SCO 5.X onto a single Solaris 8 cluster, and I

need assistance with sizing. I have not been able to

find the information that I need and would greatly

appreciate any assistance that anyone could offer.

A brief outline of the project is:

160 Stores, 90 of which have SCO running on Intel, 200

and 300MHz single processor machines. Stores not

equipped with processors are connected via WAN to

stores with processors.

Application is green screen, accessed via telnet. Total

number of users is roughly 650, with roughly half that

number being concurrent users.

Customer wants to eliminate remote processors due to

administrative/maintenance burden and relocate all

processing to highly available Solaris cluster located

at corporate hq.

Any help that anyone could provide on generating a

recommended system specification (# cpu's, cpu speed,

amount of ram, swap space, etc.) would earn my undying

gratitude!

Thanks in advance!
