Upgrading Oracle only

I am very new to Progress and need some guidance.

My client has 2 versions of Progress that currently connect to Oracle7 (7.3.4)

and want to upgrade to Oracle 8i (8.1.7) or Oracle9i (9.2.0). The database

would be running on Sun Solaris Unix server.

The versions of Progress are:

Progress 8.3 B character based runing on Solaris 2.6

Progress 7.3 E GUI running on Win2000 clients.

Upgrading Progress would result in major rewriting which is not an option at

this time.

Is there a way of getting these applications to connect to one of these newer

databases with a minimal amount of change to the app.
