Progress is by far the most appropriate solution. The RDBMS are similar, not much to choose between which is more efficient.

Progress OpenEdge has a 4GL included. Making database interrogation simpler and more efficient.

There is no need to use a third party & ODBC. Everything can be done from a single instance of ProWin32 or which ever environment installed to.

User interface (UI) can be controled within the same environment as Business logic, and other physical database rules.
