Virtualisation Tips - OpenEdge 10.2A

Posted by Admin on 12-Jan-2010 06:15

Hi

I am looking for any advice on the best way of setting up OpenEdge 10.2A databases in a ESX4.0 VM. On our test box in house we have OpenEdge 10.2A installed on Windows 2008 Standard R2 on an ESXi 4.0 host. This is on locally attached storage and we have gone with 3 separate RAID 1 arrays for C, D and E drives. C being OS, D being databases and E being after images. They are on separate physical spindles. Does anyone have any have any tips in getting the best performance out of Progress dbs on virtual disks and how they should be placed?

I am also looking for some advice in setting up Progress dbs that will run on a SAN. What is best way to slice up the SAN for best performance?

Cheers

Colin
