Using Git with OpenEdge 10.2b

Posted by MarkT on 13-Jun-2016 04:42

Hi All,

Having used a plugin called eGit with OpenEdge 11.6, I was wondering if there is a way to use the same plugin with OpenEdge 10.2b.  Unfortunately, the version of Eclipse shipped with 10.2b doesn't allow the installation - is it possible to download the latest Eclipse and then apply the progress modification toolkits to it?

Thanks,

Mark

Hi Mark,

OpenEdge Architect (aka PDS OE) 10.2B by default ships with eclipse 3.4.2 and has an extended support to eclipse 3.5 version. i.e., we can install OpenEdge Architect plugins into an external eclipse (of version 3.5). Please find below details for installing OpenEdge plugins into an external eclipse.
                documentation.progress.com/.../index.html

However, as per EGIt Eclipse site it states that we need at least Eclipse 3.5.2 to install initial version of EGit (1.0.0.201106090707-r)
                https://wiki.eclipse.org/EGit/FAQ

Note: OpenEdge Architect latest service pack (10.2B08) has support for Eclipse 3.5.0, 3.5.1, 3.6.

Hope this helps.

Thanks and Regards,
Anil Kumar.
