Eclipse Settings

Does anyone know how to move File Association and Content Types from a workspace to another workspace? There does not appear to be a way to export these settings but they must be stored somewhere. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Roger,

We can export eclipse preferences from Export wizard (of workbench 1) and import the same .epf file into another workbench or another workspace. I have used 11.6 PDS OE environment. Following are detailed steps:

1)      Configure different file types and content types from Preferences page in PDS OE environment

2)      Export the preferences from workspace1 by selecting ‘Export all’ checkbox

                File -> Export… -> General -> Preferences

3)      Launch another workspace (say Workspace2)

4)      Import preferences by selecting ‘Import all’ checkbox

File -> Import… -> General -> Preferences

5)      Restart the workspace

6)      Observe that both new ‘File Associations’ and ‘Content Types’ are available in workspace2

Note: Without PDS OE restart, we can see ‘File Associations’ getting imported properly to workspace2. However, ‘content types’ are imported successfully after restarting PDS OE workbench (after importing preferences).

However, if you are using 11.3.x version of PDS OE, then this might not works because of an issue in eclipse. Please find below article for the same:

Anil,

Let me give that a try. I am using 11.4 so hopefully it will work just fine.

Thanks.
