Some software consultants that are working with our product have been requesting a way to customize some features of the product, specially reports.
Currently, customization is done upon request by our own development team.
I was hoping to hear some thoughts of you on how this could be achieved. Ideas of a well defined architecture, much like another layer on the framework.
Any suggestion is welcome.

I guess it depends on how your reports are implemented and what kind of license the dev team at your customer has. If they have the full license,they can simply write their own programs, or copy your standard report, customize it, and save it in a location that ahead of the standard report in the propath.
if they don't have a Progress dev license, you'll have to provide a data-driven reporting system, where they can modify the data using regular CRUD pages. Or, you can try to use a BI tool (my current client is currently evaluating YellowFin; looks like a great tool...)
