OE 11.4: Any New LDAP/AD Authentication Features?

Posted by Paul Koufalis on 05-Aug-2014 12:17

I vaguely remember from PUG Challenge that 11.4 might include some improvements with respect to LDAP/AD authentication.  Was this a pleasant dream or simply a foggy memory?

If you find a C/C++ library that does LDAP authentication,

preferably cross platform and open source with a commercial friendly license,

I'll be happy to write a Progress wrapper.

Paul,

As I recall, the initial 11.4 list of feature candidates started with an LDAP/AD capability embeded across the product, not just the ABL language.   That support was not realized due to a number of higher priorities.   So 11.4 remains the same as previous 11.x releases, having only implied LDAP/AD support via the Domain's OS local authentication system configuration and the communities download that supplied limited OS support for ABL applications using native OS client libraries.
