OK, for example I have a table with 10 fields I have to write a routine that with populate another table with each different combination of these field values.

Still not clear what you want.  In an OLAP "cube" there are N dimensions, e.g., product, state, and time with each cell containing the sales volume or something like that.   What are the dimensions of your original table and of the one you want to populate?   Or, does "different combination" mean some kind of combinatorial problem instead?
