Hi,
We're developing an application using Dynamics, which will be deployed at a
customer site with offices throughout the world. They will be working on one
central database.
Does anyone have suggestions about how to handle the difference in time
between e.g. Belgium and Indonesia. The database should store the date/times
in one timezone, but the user should be able to enter/see them in his/her
own timezone.
My idea was to store the user's timezone in the profile data and let him
manually change the timezone if needed, the new timezone would be stored
again in the profile data.
I can't automatically decide what timezone would be used based on the user
or the computername, because users travel (and so do their computers).
All suggestions are welcome.
TIA,

Wouter,
I suggest:
- add the timezone field to the login-window and store
it as a session property and use that for display.
- Store date/time in GMT format
I have also a question for you:
How do you know the time-differences between timezone1 and GMT ?
Do you take Daylight saving time into account? How?

Good point about the Daylight saving time.
As I pointed out: All suggestions are welcome...
What about the Auditing information in the database? We do have control over
our own data, but not really over the Dynamics Data, unless we dig deep into
the Dynamics sources.
Since the server won't be located in the GMT zone, all system (read
Dynamics) data would be written with the local timezone.
Kind regards,
