[icf-dev] How to proceed from here

Posted by LegacyUser on 28-May-2003 16:58

Win XP Professional

Progress 9.1D patch 05

I have down loaded posse 3.0 baseline 3, and unpacked it all, but am

unsure how to proceed now to actually build the system. I have the old

wincvs.doc (icf 2 baseline 4), but am unsure of what may have changed,

and could not find an updated version on the

Posse site (but maybe I looked in the wrong place). I have down loaded

The Progress Dynamics documentation, but the install guide there doesn't

seem to be applicable either. So if someone has a few pointers as to

what I need to do next, they would be greatly appreciated.

William,

Have a look at this document:

http://docs.possenet.org/whitepapers/icf_and_cvs.pdf

It is a bit out of date but it should give you the basics to get your

environment up and running.

Regards,

Tom

A couple things to note regarding the icf_and_cvs.pdf document:

- The icf directory (top level) has been renamed to dynamics

- There is no longer an rvdb database

- There is no need to load _seqvals.d into the icfdb database

- The correct PROPATH value for the client (icf.ini) should be:

c:\yourPosseDir\gui\dynamics,

c:\yourPosseDir\src\dynamics,

c:\yourPosseDir\src\dynamics\af\sup2,

c:\yourPosseDir\gui,

c:\yourPosseDir\gui\adecomm.pl,

c:\yourPosseDir\gui\adeicon.pl,

c:\yourPosseDir\gui\adeshar.pl,

c:\yourPosseDir\gui\adeuib.pl,

c:\yourPosseDir\gui\protools.pl,

c:\yourPosseDir\gui\adeedit.pl,

c:\yourPosseDir\gui\adedict.pl,

c:\yourPosseDir\gui\prodict.pl,

c:\yourPosseDir\gui\adecomp.pl,

c:\yourPosseDir\gui\adedesk.pl,

c:\yourPosseDir\gui\adexml.pl,

c:\yourPosseDir\gui\adeweb.pl,

c:\yourPosseDir,

c:\yourPosseDir\gui\aderes.pl,

c:\yourPosseDir\gui\adetran.pl,

c:\yourPosseDir\src,

C:\Program Files\PROGRESS\gui,

C:\Program Files\PROGRESS,

C:\Program Files\PROGRESS\bin

- You can create a new icfdb database using the DCU (Dynamics Configuration

Utility):

prowin32.exe -p c:\yourPosseDir\gui\dynamics\icfcfg.w -icfparam

DCUSETUPTYPE=ProgressSetup

This will ensure that your Dynamics site id is properly set.

Tom

Hi all,

You can check Issuezilla 3740.

This submission contains a set of 4GL programs to assist with the

building of a Dynamics environment using a POSSE download (either using

CVS, or using a baseline.

The programs may need to be updated though, like for example refer to

dynamics instead of icf, but it should work.

The tool also creates the icfdb database but it does not set the

Dynamics site id so the DCU can be use for that instead.

Hope this helps,

Edsel
