While working in the AppBuilder perspective, is there a way to select a widget in the AppBuilder and create a control trigger? (i.e.: Similar to the way that CTRL-S would open the section editor and let you create triggers)

AFAIK not using a keyboard shortcut, but you may use the Edit -> Insert -> Trigger menu of the AppBuilder to create triggers.

I think that you also have to save the file first before you can add the trigger
