Is there a way to generate an xref file from within Architect?
If so, I can't find it.
If not, there should be.
With a project open
Project->Properties->Openedge->Build Options
enable Create cross-reference files in XML format
and optionally specify a destination directory.
Now reading the XML file ....that's another story
Architect's idea of reading XML files is "Here is a whole bunch of info with XML tags all over the place"
I must be missing something in which case someone should chime in ...
anyone ...anyone....Bueler....

It seems to be that I should be able to just right-click in the editor and generate an xref file.
And I'd prefer a regular xref file, not an xml xref file. Without some tool to analyze the xml files, they are much more difficult to use than the 'old' xref files.
This seems like a very basic piece of functionality that they missed. Hopefully they have plans to include some sort of xml xref analyzer in the future.
Hi Dmitri,
If you need an xml editor for Eclipse you can download one from the WTP project of eclipse. OpenEdge Architect does not include one in the box.

Hi Christopher,
Please contact Tech Support and log an enhancement request for this. You can also use the EHQ system. You can find the link for it here: http://www.progress.com/openedge/support/index.ssp
Don't get me started on the ERS - it almost completely unusable.
I just called tech support because it's actually easier than the ERS, and got the same "use the ERS" party line.
