When using your own control, all public properties are shown in the property editor. Is there a way to hide a property or make it readonly (like the [browsable] attribute in c# )?
Unfortunately that's not possible.
With SP1 at least, the Visual Designer does no longer generate code that tries to set the default value for read-only properties. I've discussed this with Progress development already, but I guess the proper way would be to add an enhancement request or at least log it with tech support.
Not the answer I was hoping for ;-) But thanks, I will log it with techsupport.
