Associating custom file extensions with the ABL Editor

Posted by Admin on 19-Oct-2009 09:01

Hi !

I have a problem with file extensions in openEdge Architect. The files I want to edit in Architect have no extension.

In Window>Preferences>General>Editors>File Associations, I cant add an entry with no extension. What can I do ?

Thank you !

You can't.  Eclipse doesn't support files without extensions.  It is a long standing limitation.

There's no work around ?

Thank you for your help !

The "work around" is to rename the file with an extension.  Eclipse isn't the only place this causes a problem, starting with not being able to make a meaningful association for double-clicking in Explorer.

Well, KsvPlugin http://www.oehive.org/project/KsvPlugin might help you. It allows you to edit a file with any extension and without extension as well as an ABL file.

Reopen as ABL file helps you if you have to edit an ABL file with a nonstandard extension. Using it you can reopen the file as ABL file and use all ABL features while you modify it.
