Got a couple of databases running with DirectIO. Is it ok just to turn it off or should I do anything else first?
I'd turn directIO off.
How many APWs are running for these databases? My guess: more than really needed.
Yes far too many. They are checkpointing very often and having freezes as a result. Lots of low hanging fruit to sort out.
