11.5.1 on Win 2012 R2.
Colleague is applying a df to live. It's purely an index add to a large table. Is there any way we can track progress of this as it's taking an absolute age to apply.
Thanks.
If you know how many records there are, from a recent dbanalys, compare that to the index creates in _IndexStat.
Unfortunately with the schema locked I can't get access to the database to read the _IndexStat table.
Ah I've found a promon screen with Index Creates.
Thanks for that Rob. Shows it's still working, and suggests it's almost there.
Given the time, I'll bet you are ready for it to be done!
Yup been running for 9 hours apparently.
Since it is version 11.5 and if you have partitioning license you could have added index inactive and then rebuild it online. Then the question "How long?" will be much less important.
Thanks Dmitri. We don't have a partitioning license, but we should still be adding the index inactive and building offline. This index too 20 minutes with that approach on a USB drive. We need to change our processes to do this.
I don't think you need partitioning license
It's not on progress.my.salesforce.com/.../P122980
and neither progress.my.salesforce.com/.../P149661 nor progress.my.salesforce.com/.../Can-indexes-be-built-online-000060410 mention license requirements.
> I don't think you need partitioning license
He isn't referring to idxactivate, but rather a new capability with the Table Partitioning product that lets you do idxbuild online for partitioned tables. Refer to proutil tpidxbuild qualifier in the docs for details.
