open edge database with RAID

Posted by monae on 05-Feb-2014 01:06

my open edge 11.1 database was created on a hyper-v 2012 server R2 and the disk is RAID 6. Does this scenario suitable for an enterprise open edge RDBMS and gives good performance or not.? if not what is the suitable RAID?

RAID 6, generally speaking, does not suit any RDBMS' DB with frequent record updates.

Please read Knowledgebase article "RAID descriptions, definitions and recommendations".

There are a couple of entries here on community in the section "Technical Users"/"OpenEdge General", such as "OpenEdge RDBMS Performance Tuning Made Simple"

You may also check out the OpenEdge documentation book "OpenEdge Revealed: Mastering the OpenEdge Database with OpenEdge Management, by Adam Backman", which is all about optimizing the DB and the system setup.
