Is there a way of programatically determining the overlap factor (-io) so that an incremental backup always backs up any changes since the last full backup?
i.e.
Sun: Full Backup
Mon: Incremental (-io 1)
Tue: Incremental (-io 2)
Web: Incremental (-io 3)
I'm hoping to avoid hard-coding the overlap figure.

I suggest you do a full backup to disk every day and then roll that backup image off to your preferred media. My expeience is that the time difference between a full backup and an incrmental one is not worth the trouble and the full backup gives you a faster and easier restore point.
And, of course, implement AI if you haven't already.
