Backup replicated database

How can I backup a replicated database?

Specifically we do online backups 6 days a week and on the 7th we do a offline backup with a restart of the database server (software).  Can I keep doing that with replication enabled and how do I manage it in that case?  Replication is set for manual transition but how do we handle the database going offline and then starting up again (with the hope of also getting replication back up)?

Hello Jens,

No need to worry, just back it up online or offline. OER is so stable, it works well. You need to be sure source and target(s) database(s) are synchronized. Then back up, that's all.  But be sure when you backup offline, first stop source database for synchronization and then stop target(s). After backing up process start source database first, then start target(s) otherwise OER do not start to synchronize. if you miss it use this command to start it manually for source db "dsrutil -C restart server" then you can restart target dbs. OER is so stable, do not worry. Do not hesitate to ask more questions.

Regards,

Kaan
