JDBC driver support in Corticon Enterprise Data Connector ?

How generic is the JDBC support in the Corticon Enterprise Data Connector? Can non-Datadirect JDBC drivers be used with it? Is there a list of prerequisites that a driver must adhere to or be compliant with to be compatible with it?

Currently you are limited to the Data-Direct JDBC drivers bundled with Corticon.
